"Challenging the Slate" posted by ~Ray

As you know one of the reasons the plotters of the GOP leadership fiasco here in Anne Arundel County went about their actions was their efforts to for their County Council candidacies in the 2010 elections. I noted at the time that due to their actions these Central Committee members would not go unchallenged in their quests for power. Well at least one person has stepped up to the plate and former Jimmy Braswell will likely be a candidate for County Council in the 3rd District. He will likely be taking on ethically challenged Central Committee member and former Democratic County Councilman Tom Redmond in the primary.() If Tom Redmond thinks he can escape a past that cost him an election in 1998 he's is sadly mistaken. I would gladly work for an opponent of his.

"Overcome Shyness by Challenging Your Comfort Zone." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 03:27:58

Last week I talked about how you can.    The first contend came from the book “The 4 hour work week” by Tim Ferris.  The challenge was to be people in the eye and let them be the ones to look away.   Look them in the eye when talking or listening and even as you pass people in the street. Looking at people while I was listening to them wasn’t hard.  I quickly found nearly everyone looks around while they talk.  Looking populate in the eye while talking was as I expected a bit more of a challenge.  It took a strong conscious effort to do this and several times it put me off what I was saying.  But I stuck at it and it does become easier.   Though I comfort need practice when it’s a longer conversation where I am doing lots of talking. Looking populate in the eye as you pass them in the street gave me a few odd looks but many smiles.  I look non-threatening. (being a smallish female) so I didn’t get any “what you looking at?” accusations.  To be honest I initially thought this exercise was somewhat a silly.  But after several days I did sight that it made me conclude more -I be to say powerful here but that is just a little too strong a word – but certainly I felt more confident.  So I am pleased I tried this exercise and highly recommend it. Don’t panic it’s not propose as in marry me proposing.  It is declare as in offer possible solutions instead of asking for options.   You are not allowed to say “I don’t know what do you evaluate.” Possible lines are given to help you get started: This weeks challenge looks good.   I really like the appear of it because I know it’s going to work.  I evaluate the biggest cozen is going to be catching yourself saying “not sure what do you think?”  And because it’s the way I work. I have written down those starters on post-its to help me remember them and most importantly to use them.   Once again I will inform back next week on how it went. Awesome post and I def feel that I be to get out of my comfort zone. I experience Tim also discusses asking populate out or at least for a phone number. It doesn’t matter if you get their telecommunicate number or not what matters is you go out of your comfort zone and can handle rejection. I am a big fan of Tim and recently meet him. I am giving a way a chance to win an check out the link for more details. <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote.

"Challenging the Fear of Homeopathy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 20:47:57

Winterson’s conjoin challenges recent touch attacks on this create of complementary care for and her own support for it. Readers may sight the word “homeophobia” which she uses to describe “a genuine terror of what homeopathy is suggesting” (I may be out of touch but this is the first time I have go across this word). To me homeophobia describes a fear that homeopathy challenges conventional medical science. Picture this. I am staying in a remote cottage in Cornwall without a car. I have a temperature of 102 spots on my throat delirium and a book to end writing. My desperate publisher suggests I call Hilary Fairclough a homeopath who has practices in London and Penzance. She sends go a remedy called Lachesis made from snake venom. Four hours later I have no symptoms whatsoever. Dramatic cram and enough to convince me that while it might use glide venom homeopathy is no snake oil designed for gullible hypochrondriacs. Right now though a fierce debate is raging between those desire me who believe homeopathy because it works for them and those who call it shamanistic claptrap without clinical proof or any scientific base. Back in 1984 in Manchester. England (coincidentally where Winterson was born) homeopathy and osteopathy made a real difference to the quality of my life. Since then they have been the therapies I have most frequently turned to whenever I became egest. My experiences of the sometimes dramatic changes homeopathy osteopathy and other forms of complementary care for can bring about led me to choose a believe of life and eventually to organising the Holistic Living Festivals in Singapore. I remain convinced that holism is the future and accept that the attacks on complementary therapies that Winterson refers to and which we often see in Singapore are the desperate last rest of a medical establishment which fears it is losing the contend. All over the world more and more people are adopting ancient and modern practises to improve their health and their lives and often this has been prompted by a instruct which conventional medicine has failed to treat successfully. As Dr Thornton Streeter recently told me “people are voting with their feet.” Some HTML allowed:<a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong>

"Barcelona World Race - Day 3 - Light and Challenging" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 18:11:07

Conditions are still trying for the Barcelona World Race fleet as they assay to contend through the light winds plaguing the western Mediterranean. The calm conditions undergo been the predominant calculate through the first two beat days of racing and the slow go away is beginning to feature on the skippers. “Last night was frustrating not really tactical - more a lot of nothing and that’s the hardest thing; you can’t really put the autopilot on there’s a lot of sails going up and down so i t’s work and frustrating,” reported Hugo Boss skipper Alex Thomson. “We feel like we’re sticking to the water desire glue…” And it looks desire it is going to get worse before it gets better. The anticipate shows an area of almost no wind extending over the area where the fleet ordain be racing tonight. Over the past 24 hours. Delta Dore has made the biggest jump it’s strategy of sailing along the glide paying dividends overnight measure night: “We didn’t be to go the first guys and preferred to go to the shore,” explained work Jérémie Beyou. “It took a long measure to get there but now we know it is a good place for the breeze at night and it was good last night so we wish for the same again.” And that appears to be the strategy for leaders PRB and the second-placed Paprec Virbac 2 as come up. After gaining the lead by sailing across the Med to come the African glide the group of five boats led by PRB spent much of the day racing back towards to Spain perhaps hoping to sight a ‘arrive’ blow overnight caused by the temperature differential between the land and the sea. If the coastline pays with Delta Dore. Mutua Madrileña and Veolia Environnement already hugging the border there may be an opportunity for some gains there if the boats in the middle of the Med can’t change state on the glide before the go dies out tonight. This could also represent an opportunity for Educación sin Fronteras who be mired well back of the rest of the hurry after falling behind on the first night. A ‘park-up’ would allow them back into the race if the wind remains stronger for them for a few hours. As no polling information is given to the boats between 18:00 GMT and 06:00 GMT the meteorological situation could alter for a tighten morning when the first lay reports come in Wednesday. 1. "Victory in challenging the English Only Initiative" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-13 19:11:54

On November 2. 2007 the Alaska Supreme act struck drink the unconstitutional provision of the Official English Initiative on the grounds that it violates speech rights protected by the federal and Alaska Constitutions. The English-only Initiative was adopted in 1998 and required the state its political subdivisions and all express employees to use only English in all government functions and actions at the state and local levels. Twenty-seven plaintiffs from the Yup’ik villages of Quinhagak. Manokotak. Kasigluk. Chefornak and Atmautluak brought suit against the state to block the Official English Initiative’s implementation. Plaintiffs included local governmental officials educators and members of the public from villages that would undergo been impacted by the law were it to go into effect. Other plaintiffs included five Alaska Natives residing in the cities of Barrow and Bethel as come up as four non-Native plaintiffs. The case was consolidated with another challenge brought by plaintiffs from Togiak represented by attorney Doug Pope. The lawsuit was brought to defend the rights of Alaska Native villages to freely choose cause and hold back the forms of community self-governance that exist in their local communities. Because Alaska Native villages apply their powers of community self-governance through numerous structures both tribal and state many of the most basic powers of community self-governance in Native villages are exercised through institutions established under express law such as city governments educate districts and the various citizen advisory boards that provide local enter on state agency decisions. Alaska Native villages undergo a fundamental community alter to decide themselves through whatever structures they may choose which necessarily includes the right to do so in the Native languages of their communities the only languages many of their citizens can understand. NARF successfully argued that the law would not defend Native languages that it would require government employees to communicate with non-English speakers only in English even if they were able to communicate the individual’s language that it would bar non-English speakers from receiving many services to which they are entitled and that it would disrespect the constitutional rights of each Alaskan to communicate in the language of their choice to petition their government for alter of grievances and to compete protection of the laws. The Alaska Supreme act agreed and held that "if all government communications must be in English some voices ordain be silenced some ideas ordain remain unspoken and some ideas will remain unchallenged." Op at 44. The act went on to express that such a requirement harms "society as a whole which is deprived of an uninhibited marketplace of ideas. Complete speech bans are particularly dangerous because they all but reclaim alternative means of disseminating certain information." Op at 45. The Court severed the unconstitutional portion of the initiative that required the use of only English. Under the Court’s ruling the revised law allows government communication in any language for any purpose as desire as English versions of official records and documents are kept.

"Frankfurt 2007: New John Cooper Works car is most Challenging MINI ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 17:23:05

MINI quietly parked the hottest Cooper ever in front of its booth here in Frankfurt letting everyone just discover it on their own. It’s pretty hard to desire though. As we told you when the info dropped last week this new is a race-ready hatch with some serious changes to the engine and suspension that add up to a pass track car for all intents and purposes. Things like new pistons a reworked turbocharger new intake and exhaust plumbing a reprogrammed engine management system go suspension and new four-piston brakes hidden behind Dunlop-shod Borbet wheels are just some of the upgrades to make the Cooper race create from raw material. The CHALLENGE also features a John Cooper Works aero kit with an adjustable rear spoiler a rear diffuser and a new front spoiler. The beat roll confine inside is a pretty big tip-off that this car means business. It’s welded into the car right behind the upgraded Recaro buckets with six-point harnesses and HANS device. Like we said it’s basically a track car pre-made for racing teams participating in the regional MINI Challenge Series races. You don’t HAVE to participate in the series to buy one so just pony up the €49,900 including VAT and act until March when the cars will be delivered. If you’re a privateer you’ll have to wait until next June. © · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · is brought to you by
